Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori, has approved the recall of the suspended Commissioner representing the Ndokwa ethnic nationality on the board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Dr Charles Olisa.
The decision was conveyed in a statement signed by the Secretary to the Delta State Government, Dr Kingsley Eze Emu, who said the lifting of the suspension was in keeping with the spirit of the new year and reflected the Governor’s disposition towards forgiveness and reconciliation.
According to the statement, the Governor’s action followed the display of remorse by Dr Olisa during the period of his suspension. With the recall now effective, the DESOPADEC board member is expected to resume duties immediately.
Dr Olisa had earlier tendered an unreserved apology to the Governor over the circumstances that led to his suspension, expressing deep regret for his actions and reaffirming his loyalty to the Delta State Government.
In a formal letter addressed to the Governor, he admitted responsibility for the actions that resulted in his suspension and apologised for any discomfort caused to the Governor and the administration. He also pledged total commitment to the MORE Agenda of the Oborevwori administration.
“I most sincerely regret my actions that led to my suspension and the pain it must have caused Your Excellency. I am truly sorry for my actions. I pledge my unalloyed loyalty to your government and will continue to pray and work towards the success of the state government,” he stated.
Dr Olisa also distanced himself from the unauthorised circulation of his suspension letter on social media, stressing that the publication did not originate from him.
He said he was shocked to see the document online, noting that he had not even received an official copy at the time it went viral.
Describing the incident as unthinkable, he maintained that he would never engage in actions capable of undermining his integrity or that of the government he serves.
He reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to the Delta State Government and its leadership, assuring of his continued commitment to the collective vision of sustainable development and prosperity under the MORE Agenda.
