Executive Assistant To Delta State Governor on Communications and Head of Delta State Orientation Bureau, Barr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe has applauded the state governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for cutting cost of governance and prudent management of state resources.

The EA made the assertion in Asaba on Wednesday during a media interaction with members and executives of the Indigenous Correspondents Chapel ICC, of the Nigerian Union of Journalists NUJ, Delta State Council at its “ICC MIRROR” platform designed for expository dialalogue.

Latimore said the high cost of Governance is one major factor crumbling the local economy and hindering growth in the country.

He noted that Governor Oborevwori has put himself forward to ensure that he sees to the reduction of running a thriving government by minimizing wasteful spending in the state, and as far as going to the extent of scrutinizing all major transactions to ensure that there were no overpriced or overinflated contracts before approval.

The EA Orientation equally disclosed that the state governor has not borrowed a dime to fund any project, but has rather managed what the state generates meticulously, and gave firm instructions to the Delta State Internal Revenue Service, DSIRS, to upscale Internally Generated Revenue, IGR by capturing the informal sector.

Latimore further assured of progressive manifestation of the MORE Agenda, stating that by the end of the year, people will see astonishing positive changes in the state, in terms of socioeconomic and infrastructure development, job and wealth creation, sports development and take off of the Orerokpe campus of Delta State University of Science and Technology Ozoro, DSUST.

While commending the press for standing by him spanning nearly two decades, Latimore appealed to Journalists in the state to be factual in their reportage instead of working with speculations, adding that they should bring forth constructive criticisms and precision journalism to the people and not confuse them with half-truth, fake news or propaganda.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman ICC, Comrade Kenneth Orusi, commended the EA Communications to Governor Oborevwori for the visit and for being a guest at the ICC MIRROR Platform.

He assured the Government of its members’ support but also stated that they would not hesitate in calling its attention to lagging areas.
