Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on Sunday, described business mogul and community leader, Chief Victor Emonena Wayles Egukawhore, as a man of proven character, passion and enduring commitment to community development, as he celebrated his 60th birthday.

The governor spoke at a thanksgiving service held at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Okpolo-Enhwe, Isoko South Local Government Area, to celebrate the diamond jubilee of Chief Egukawhore, whom he said has remained consistent in character and disposition over the years.

Oborevwori noted that attaining the age of 60 was a testament to God’s faithfulness, stressing that returning all the glory to God through thanksgiving was the most meaningful aspect of the celebration.

He said he had known the celebrant for many years, affirming that Egukawhore’s passion, energy and sense of purpose had remained constant.

According to the governor, success is not accidental but rooted in divine favour, strong values and respect for one’s roots, commending the celebrant for remembering and investing in his people across Enhwe and other parts of Isoko and Patani.

Oborevwori prayed for continued divine protection, good health and sustained blessings for the celebrant and his family, urging him to remain steadfast in acknowledging God as the source of wisdom, opportunity and increase.

In his homily, Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Oleh, Rt. Rev. John Aruakpor, preached from Psalm 139:14–18, emphasising the doctrine of God’s providence.

He explained that human life is “fearfully and wonderfully made” and fully known to God even before birth, noting that survival, progress and achievement are products of divine grace rather than luck or personal strength.

The Bishop stressed that life is a stewardship entrusted by God and meant for service to others, urging the celebrant and the congregation to live purposefully, with gratitude, humility and obedience to God, while using their resources and opportunities to bless their communities and society at large.

Bishop Aruakpor commended Governor Oborevwori for visible achievements and responsive governance, citing improved infrastructure that compares favourably with global standards.

The Cleric expressed strong confidence in the Oborevwori’s service to Delta State and Nigeria, noting that genuine performance eliminates the need for political campaigning.

He urged critics to engage directly rather than complain from a distance, describing Oborevwori administration as people-centred and approachable, and sued for collective support for the Governor.

The celebrant, Chief Egukawhore said his life is marked by enduring friendships, meaningful relationships and good deeds over the years, attributing his journey and happiness to God’s faithfulness.

He further reaffirms his commitment to service and development, noting that at 60 years, he remains steadfast in his journey of faith and purpose.

The thanksgiving service was attended by the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, prominent business leaders including Chief Johnbull Ejovi, Chief Eta Enahoro, Engr. Matthew Tonlagha, High Chief Tunde Smooth, Chief Broderick Arigbodi and Chief Daniel Omoyibo, as well as traditional rulers and other dignitaries.
