The Nigerian office of the World Fund for Development and Planning (WFDP) in Abuja has indicated strong interest to sign a partnership agreement with the Center for Peace and Environmental Justice (CEPEJ) as soon as possible to cement relationships aimed at promoting peacebuilding, education, economic development, agriculture, as well as sports development.

The Country Director and Special Envoy for ECOWAS, Mr Buhari Muhammad, expressed the readiness of the global body to partner with CEPEJ, when CEPEJ National Coordinator, Comrade Mulade Sheriff, on Thursday led a delegation of the civil society organisation on a courtesy visit to the WFDP Abuja office.

During the visit, both parties discussed extensively current and past programmes towards promoting peaceful coexistence and sustainability, as well as areas of programme intersection including peacebuilding, education, economic development, agriculture, as well as sports development.

Muhammad said he was glad to identify with a reputable NGO such as CEPEJ, stating that his organisation signed an agreement with Nigeria’s Federal Government to pool efforts towards promoting and supporting three key areas of concentration viz: Health, Agriculture and Education.

He said he was sure that WFDP would be willing to partner with the highly experienced CEPEJ and strength the three areas, as well as peacebuilding to enable other sectors to work peacefully in the country.

Muhammad commended CEPEJ for embarking on good and selfless works without the government’s or donors’ funds as well as expressed happiness with recommendations from members of the Diplomatic Corps in Nigeria indicating that CEPEJ’s works were good.

He assured that the WFDP would be willing to sign a partnership agreement with CEPEJ as soon as possible to cement relationships.

The CEPEJ National Coordinator, Chief Mulade Sheriff took turn to thank the Country Director and WFDP team for hosting the NGO, in spite of their tight schedules.

The highlight of the visit was the presentation of CEPEJ’s 2021 calendar and other important souvenirs to the host.

WFDP has an overall goal to prevent violent conflicts and to promote dialogue and peaceful resolution of conflicts around the world.

It has in cooperation with its partners allocated over 50 billion Euro to work on and achieve the fund’s goals and objectives.
