Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) have agreed to suspend the ongoing strike over disagreement on a new national minimum wage with the Federal Government for one week.

THE  NATION reports that a source attending the ongoing NEC meeting in Abuja confirmed it to their correspondent.

“A joint NEC meeting of TUC/NLC has approved to relax the industrial action for one week with immediate effect,” the source said.

The strike, which commenced on Monday, entered the second day on Tuesday.

The Federal Government on Monday expressed commitment to raise the N60, 000 offered as minimum wage after a meeting with the leadership of organised labour.

Labour is expected to resume talks with the tripartite committee on a new national minimum wage today.
