Buhari sacks Service Chiefs, names replacements

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday accepted the immediate resignation of the Service Chiefs and their retirement from service.

This was disclosed in a Press Release signed by the Special Assistance to the President on Media and Publicity Femi Adeshina.

Involved are the Chief of Defence Staff, General Abayomi Olonisakin; Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Tukur Buratai; Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok Ekwe Ibas; and Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar.

Immediate past Service Chiefs

President Buhari thanked the outgoing Service Chiefs for what he described as overwhelming achievements in the efforts at bringing enduring peace to our dear country. He wished them well in their future endeavours.

The new Service Chiefs are Major-General Lucky E.O Irabor, Chief of Defence Staff, Major-General Ibrahim Attahiru, Chief of Army Staff, Rear Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo, Chief of Naval Staff and Air-Vice Marshal Ishiaka Oladayo Amao, Chief of Air Staff.

While congratulating the new Service Chiefs, the President urged them to be loyal and dedicated in the discharge of their responsibilities.
