Popular pressure group, Vanguard For Good Governance has presented an award to a philanthropist and transformational leader, Wilson Edun Olley.
Presenting the award of “Down To Earth Philanthropist”, the President of Vanguard for Good Governance, Pastor Kanabar Ovie Duke and Secretary, Ngozi Nzekwue said it was in recognition of his philanthropic activities in the last three years.
They explained that during the COVID-19 pandemic, Wilson Edun Olley gave food items worth millions of naira to Gbokoda, Aja-Amita, Udo, Obaghoro, Ebrohimi, Tebu, Jakpa, Delaketa among other communities in Warri North Local Government Area including neighbouring tribes.
Pastor Kanabar noted that the award is meant to encourage the Iwere-born philanthropist and transformational leader to do more for his people.
“We are indeed very proud to identify with Wilson Edun Olley for his philanthropy. He has continued to demonstrate uncommon passion and love towards his people.
“Vanguard for Good Governance pray God to continue to grant him wisdom and good health for him to be able to sustain his humanitarian gestures.”
Responding, Wilson Edun Olley, who is the Patron of Vanguard for Good Governance thanked the group for the recognition, noting that it will spur him to do more.
He explained that, his Philanthropic gesture was his own way of appreciating God for blessing him.
Wilson Edun Olley restated his commitment towards helping the helpless and downtrodden.
He noted that, in a world full of conflicts, diseases, calamities and inequality, the privileged need to show the milk of human kindness, and reach out to the less privileged, comfort the sick and help the weak.
