NBA President, Olu Akpata, visits Warri, appreciates colleagues for support during election

The President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Olumide Akpata, Esq. on Sunday, visited Warri, Udu and Effurun Branches of the association in Delta State, where he appreciated lawyers for the support extended to him during and after the NBA elections which saw him emerge as President of the NBA.

It was a stop-over visit on his way from Port Harcourt where he attended the burial ceremonies of renowned jurist, Hon. Justice Karibi-Whyte, JSC (rtd).

He thanked members of the NBA Effurun Branch for the support they gave him during his election.

According to Akpata, “I am so grateful for the support and I will not disappoint you, people.”

Mr. Akpata was flanked by his 1st National Vice President, John Aikpokpo-Martins, Esq. and Kunle Edun, Esq. at the NBA Effurun Branch Monthly General Meeting held at the Bar Centre, High Court Complex, Effurun.

He said, “We are going to try and make a difference and I will ensure I carry Warri, Effurun, Udu Branches and other Branches of the NBA along, in making the Bar work for us all. You will not regret the decision you made in voting me into office.”

The NBA President urged lawyers who are ready to work to join hands with him to move the NBA forward, stressing “We need to prove a point.”

In a remark, the Chairman of the NBA Effurun Branch, Jonathan Ekperusi, Esq. commended the NBA President for the visit, just as he pledged his continued supports for his leadership.

Earlier in the day, the NBA President and his entourage were hosted to a dinner by a former President of the NBA and former Chairman of the Body of Benchers, Chief TJO Okpoko, SAN, OON in his residence in Effurun.

The Dinner was attended by Prof. Amos Utuama, SAN (former Deputy Governor & former Attorney General & Commissioner for Justice, Delta State) Charles Ajuyah, SAN (former Attorney General & Commissioner for Justice, Delta State), Ama Etuwewe (SAN), Ayo Asala (SAN), Chief Victor Otomiewo (former Attorney General & Commissioner for Justice, Delta State), Ben Oji, Esq. (former 2nd Vice President of the NBA), Patrick Oganwu, Esq., Chief Gweke Akudihor, Deacon Dennis Agbaga, G.O.K. Ebowe, Esq. as well as the Chairmen of the Warri, Udu and Effurun Branches of the NBA.
