Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Ede Dafinone, has congratulated two prominent Urhobo legal practitioners, Chief Oghenero Okoro and Mrs. Gladys Aghogho Okpomor, on their election to key national offices of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), describing their victories as a triumph of merit, professionalism, and dedicated service.

In a congratulatory message, Senator Dafinone hailed Chief Okoro on his emergence as the First Vice President of the NBA and Mrs. Okpomor on her election as the Association’s Assistant General Secretary, saying their success has brought pride to the Urhobo Nation, Delta State and Nigeria as a whole.

According to the lawmaker, the duo’s emergence into the NBA’s national leadership was a well-earned recognition of years of exemplary legal practice, outstanding leadership and commitment to the ideals of justice and the rule of law.

“I heartily congratulate two exceptional legal practitioners and worthy ambassadors of the Urhobo Nation, Chief Oghenero Okoro, on his election as First Vice President of the Nigerian Bar Association, and Mrs. Gladys Aghogho Okpomor, on her election as Assistant General Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association. Your emergence into these distinguished national offices is a proud moment for the Urhobo Nation, Delta State, and indeed every Nigerian who believes in merit, excellence, and service,” Dafinone stated.

The senator also praised Chief Okoro’s record as a former Chairman of the NBA Warri Branch and Mrs. Okpomor’s service as former Assistant General Secretary of the Young Lawyers Forum, Minna Branch, noting that their professional track records made their victories unsurprising.

“Your victories are richly deserved. They are the culmination of years of distinguished legal practice, exemplary leadership, and unwavering commitment to the ideals of justice and the rule of law. Your election did not come as a surprise; it is a fitting reward for years of professionalism, diligence and hard work that truly embody the enduring Urhobo Can-Do Spirit,” he said.

Dafinone urged the newly elected officials to deploy their experience and leadership in strengthening the NBA and advancing reforms that would reinforce judicial independence, ethical standards and public confidence in Nigeria’s justice system.

“As you assume these important national responsibilities, I urge you to bring your vast experience, sound judgment, and exemplary leadership to bear in advancing the Nigerian Bar Association’s vision. I am confident that you will uphold the highest ethical standards, strengthen the Bar, promote judicial independence, and contribute meaningfully to reforms that will further enhance public confidence in our justice system,” he added.

He wished both Chief Okoro and Mrs. Okpomor wisdom, strength, good health and divine guidance as they begin their new responsibilities, expressing confidence that their tenure would bring greater honour to the legal profession, lasting pride to the Urhobo Nation and meaningful contributions to national development.
