MY POLITICAL TREPIDATION ABOUT 2023

Dr Amos Ighorodje

By Dr Amos Ighorodje

All of a sudden we all seem to have forgotten all the political Tsunamis that were orchestrated by the ruling party leading to the 2019 election, during the election and after the election.

Nigerians always PRETEND out of lack of courage that they have amnesia in nearly all aspects of our collective Nigerian history. Right now there is frenzy all over the place about democratic or what we are presently thinking will be democratic activities come early 2023, and the weeks and months that will follow immediately thereafter.
How could we have forgotten so soon that the two critical institutions that are the KERNEL OF DEMOCRACY no longer exist or have been so decimated by the powers that be that one can conclude without fear of contradiction that they no longer exist in the true sense of the meaning of what they should be?

These two fundamental democratic institutions are THE JUDICIARY AND INEC. So, we have forgotten or seem to think lightly of what happened at the Supreme Court and are being replicated again at the same Supreme court and INEC. So, we are all really believing that these two institutions can deliver democratic outcomes in 2023 and thereafter. I PERSONALLY DO NOT BELIEVE THEY WILL and in fact, they will do worse than what happened in Imo state and Hope Uzodinma. How can PDP be thinking they will when so many structures and arrangements are being put in place by the ruling party to even degrade the performance of these institutions to a shameful level even worse than what we witnessed all over the country during the elections of 2019 and thereafter.

My poser to our party, the PDP, is that if they think they will go into the 2023 elections without first of all ensuring that all the rubbish APC thought was their birthright in 2019 and which they actually carried out in most parts of the country WITH IMPUNITY during and after the elections will not happen again and even worse then we should think again.

This phrase “If the elections of 2023 are rigged again by INEC and the JUDICIARY both the dogs and baboons will be soaked in BLOOD” is not the preserve of only ONE PERSON.

I strongly support the motion that PDP should also start putting structures and arrangements in place right now that will make the above phrase both believable and achievable in the eyes of our teeming followers, and also in the eyes of APC members as well, in order to stimulate confidence in our WORK and HOPE towards 2023.
IT IS TIME TO BE PRAGMATIC AND UNASSUMING.

Ighorodje, a medical doctor cum politician wrote from Delta State.
