Renowned Niger Delta environmentalist, rights activist, and Ijaw leader, Comrade Mulade Sheriff, PhD, has congratulated the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, on his election as Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria.
In a statement in Warri, Mulade, who is the Ibe-Sorimowei of the oil-rich Gbaramatu Kingdom, described Guwor’s emergence as a clear reflection of confidence in his leadership, noting that his unanimous election during the Conference’s extraordinary session in Abuja underscores his credibility among his peers nationwide.
He said the Delta Speaker’s return unopposed is a strong endorsement of his integrity, consistency, and effective service, particularly his performance as Treasurer of the Conference since 2023.
According to Mulade, Guwor has distinguished himself through administrative discipline, maturity, and an inclusive leadership style that prioritises consensus over division.
The Ijaw leader noted that Guwor brings to the chairmanship deep legislative experience, prudent financial management skills, and a proven capacity to foster unity across political and regional lines—qualities he said are critical to strengthening cooperation among state legislatures and advancing democratic governance at the sub-national level.
Mulade expressed optimism that Guwor’s leadership would inject renewed energy into the Conference, drive meaningful legislative reforms, and reinforce advocacy for legislative independence and development-focused laws across the country.
He wished the new Chairman a successful tenure and assured him of the continued goodwill and support of stakeholders across Delta State and the wider Niger Delta region.
