The Ovie of Mosogar Kingdom in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State, HRM Sunday Odogu Okpurhe, Uduaka I, has disowned a group of chiefs from the kingdom who attended the 4th coronation anniversary of the Olu of Warri Kingdom, Ogiame Atuwatse III, on Thursday, August 21, 2025.

The monarch, through a statement issued by the Ovie-In-Council Secretary, Chief Silva Anuwa, said the chiefs acted without authorization and misrepresented Mosogar Kingdom at the event.

The affected chiefs are Chief Felix Oboko Omene, Chief Vincent Okporua, Chief Oghenedoro America, Chief Blessing Agboma, Chief Ejiro Anachemi Obayendo, Chief Omonigho Ojoko, Chief Enor Edekpo and Chief Jackson Okudede.

According to the statement, the Ovie of Mosogar did not receive or extend a formal invitation to the coronation anniversary and therefore did not delegate any chief to represent the kingdom.

“Those chiefs who attended the ceremony without the approval or prior notice of the monarch not only misrepresented the kingdom but also committed an act of impersonation and insubordination,” the statement read.

The palace further stressed that all the chiefs involved hail from the Udurhie Ruling House, a development it described as a breach of the long-standing principle of equal representation of both ruling houses in Mosogar.

The Ovie reaffirmed that since his ascension, he has ensured fairness and balance between the ruling houses, warning against attempts to upset the kingdom’s cultural harmony.

On Chief Blessing Agboma, the statement noted that he is under suspension and has been recommended for derobement, making his attendance particularly unacceptable.

While congratulating the Olu of Warri on his 4th coronation anniversary, the Ovie emphasized that Mosogar Kingdom has no allegiance with the Itsekiri Kingdom that would warrant such a representation without official invitation.

“Mosogar Kingdom, known to have maintained cordial relations with various kingdoms across the state and beyond, will continue to sustain these ties based on mutual respect while safeguarding her traditional pride,” the statement added.
