Kano State Fire Service has said that one Mu’azu Garba has died while trying to rescue his mobile phone from a septic tank.
Garba was allegedly using his mobile phone in the toilet when it fell inside and he went down to get it from the septic tank.
The spokesman for the Fire Service, Saminu Abdullahi, said the unfortunate incident occurred on Thursday at Jigirya, in the Nassarawa Local Government Area of the state.
Abdullahi said the agency received a distressed call at about 1:35 pm from one Abbas Abubakar, that a man had been trapped inside a soakaway.
He said the 40-year-old man was making attempts to bring out his mobile phone that fell inside the soakaway but could not come out of the pit.
The Fire Service image-maker, however, said the victim was brought out of the septic tank already dead and his corpse was handed over to the ward head of Jigirya, Nuhu Adamu.
