The Wisdom Class, a moral and young leaders mentorship nonprofit organisation across the campuses of Delta State University, Delsu, has appointed the Executive Assistant (Communications) to the Governor of Delta State, Mr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, a lawyer, as a patron.
The group also honoured Oghenesivbe with an award of excellence for his roles in advancing good governance through effective strategic communication.
Presenting the award to Oghenesivbe, in his office at the Government House in Asaba, on Friday 18th December, 2020, Wisdom Class Executive Director, Dr Paul Uche Esegbue, a medical doctor and senior staff of Delsu, described the recipient as a renowned communication expert who over the years excelled as a leader and a leading voice in good governance advocacy and facilitator of human capacity development.
He urged Oghenesivbe to remain focused, fearless and highly proactive in his quest to consistently advance good governance and to continually speak against bad governance, despotic and authoritarian regimes without fear or favour.
Okowa’s EA Communications while accepting the award said, challenges propelled by his political detractors helped a great deal in sharpening his skills, adding that the stones thrown at him were efficiently used to build enduring structures and system integration.
According to him, “Your detractors can also be used by God to facilitate the attainment of goals without them knowing it. When you are faced with multifaceted stumbling blocks, you must learn to be prayerful and dismantle them on a step by step basis (soft power and public diplomacy).
“It is important to remain resilient, consistent and to also double your zeal at work, that way you are able to skillfully detune detractor’s arsenals and fly very high above their imagination, negative sentiments and petty jealousy.
“I love what I do, I love my career and as a communication strategist, it is expected that I will always step on toes for the good of society and humanity. In all of these, I am happy doing what I know best to do, in furthering the quest for a just and equitable society.
“I thank the Board of Wisdom class for appointing me as Patron, and for this unique Award coming from the academia and future leaders of our state and country. I promise to justify the Award by working extra hard, and in adding my voice to the call for good governance in Nigeria and in achieving egalitarian society.
“I dedicate the award to God, the Father, and to the Platinum Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, who despite all odds, ensured that I survived every storm and artificial disconnect which hitherto frustrated my early system integration, and which has been eroded in the nick of time,” said Oghenesivbe.
