Covid-19 spike in Nigeria puts death toll at 1,218

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Saturday night announced sex new coronavirus related deaths in the country.

The NCDC reported 920 new cases of COVID-19, more than the 850 posted on Friday and far from the existing record of 1,145 cases.

This brings to a total of 1,218 Covid-19 deaths and overall cases to 77,933 in the country.

Lagos State which has continued to be the epicentre for the virus recorded 308 cases, and is followed Abuja with 207 cases.

The health agency data puts the number of active cases at 8,931, while discharged patients stood at 67,784.

“Our discharges today include 115 community recoveries in Kaduna State and 104 community recoveries in Lagos State managed in line with guidelines. the NCDC stated.

“We must all #TakeResponsibility to limit the spread of #COVID19 during the Christmas & New Year festivities,” the NCDC stated.
