Just In: Protesters storm APC Abuja office, demand Jonathan as consensus presidential candidate

The national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress, APC, is currently being besieged by protesters who are demanding that former President Goodluck Jonathan be adopted as the party’s consensus presidential candidate for the 2023 general elections, NewsNet Nigeria has learnt.

Recall that hundreds of protesters on Thursday, May 5, 2022, also stormed the APC national secretariat to protest alleged plans to impose Jonathan on other aspirants as the presidential candidate of the ruling party.

Some political pundits are insinuating that Thursday’s outburst of the national leader of APC, Bola Tinubu while addressing the party delegates at the Presidential Lodge in Abeokuta, Ogun State, may not be unconnected with his fears of Jonathan being the consensus presidential flag bearer that President Muhammadu Buhari is seriously pushing for.

Speaking Friday on behalf of the protesters, Umar Waja said, “We are calling on President Buhari and the national working committee (NWC) under the distinguished leader of Senator Abdullahi Adamu to adopt Goodluck Jonathan as their consensus candidate for the betterment of this country.”
