Well-meaning and privileged individuals in society have been enjoined to render more services that would promote the work of God and the wellbeing of mankind.

Rev Fr John Ederaine gave the charge in a Sunday sermon at the Mother of Redeemer Catholic Church, Effurun in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.

The Catholic Priest at the service which featured a birthday thanksgiving of a one-time Special Adviser on Health Matters to former Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan and President, Jesu Marie Empowerment Foundation, Dr (Mrs) Rukevwe Ugwumba, charged the children of God to at all times embrace peace, unity and love for one another.

In his homily entitled “Celebrating the Mystery of the Solemnity of Holy Trinity”, Rev Fr Ederaine urged Christians to position themselves as angels to save mankind, saying that there is a need to strengthen their faith in God.

Explaining the mystery of the doctrines of the Holy Trinity, the Catholic Priest challenged all to possess those qualities that will not only attract God’s Favours to their lives but earn them a place in His kingdom in the life after.

The elated Dr Rukevwe Ugwumba said she was thanking God for His mercies and grace upon her and members of her family, promising to remain committed to the work of God and services to mankind.

Dr Ugwumba disclosed that the Friday and Saturday free medical programme, organised by her foundation, Jesu Marie Empowerment Foundation, JMEF, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Osubi District 9141 and Rotaract Club of Osubi Community Base, was another opportunity to draw closer to God, who remains the source of her strength.

The Canada based physician, while thanking God for the success of the two-day medical outreach, called for more of such programmes across communities in the state in support government’s efforts in the healthcare sector.

Some family members and friends who spoke eulogised Dr Rukevwe Ugwumba for her commitment to the wellbeing of the people, stressing that many lives have been saved through her foundation’s activities.

They recalled several health and empowerment programs embarked upon in the past by the Uwheru born Medical Doctor, emphasizing that society need more of such personalities with the heart of giving.

The high point of the service was a Special Thanksgiving by Dr Rukevwe Ugwumba accompanied by her mother, Chief Theresa Akpedeye, family members, friends, well-wishers and some members of the church’s community.
