Inoaghan restates commitment to fight against cultism in Sapele as CAN holds special prayer today

The immediate past chairman of Sapele Local Government in Delta State and chairmanship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the March 6, 2021, local government elections in the area, Chief Eugene Inoaghan, says if he is re-elected for a second term in office he would sustain the fight against cultism and criminal activities, particularly in the Sapele metropolis.

Sapele known in the past to be a peaceful town has been bedevilled by cult-related killings leading to the deaths of several promising youths in the area.

Speaking in Sapele at the media engagement of the Delta State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), tagged “PLATFORM” organised for the chairmanship candidates of political parties participating in the March 6 council polls, Inoaghan disclosed that before the end of his first tenure Sapele which used to have four(4) zones in terms of security was further sub-divided into fifteen(15) zones because of the ugly heads being reared by cultists in recent time in the area.

Inoaghan explained that each zone is headed by a vigilante that reports directly to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Department of State Security Service (DSS) and the Navy adding that because of the additional eleven(11) zones the issue of cultism has minimised.

The Sapele PDP chairmanship candidate said, “These people who are doing all this, they are our brothers, sisters, they are not spirits.

“The people of Sapele should volunteer information to security agents because security should be everybody’s business.

“My coming back by His grace we will improve on it because once the place is safe in the economy there will be an improvement.”

While commending Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for his effort in dealing with the cult problem in Sapele, Inoaghan said the good people of the area are also seeking the intervention of God on the issue which greatly dented the image of Sapele in recent time.

To this end, he said the Sapele Chapter of the Christain Association of Nigeria (CAN) will on Tuesday, February 23, 2921, hold a special prayer session at the Sapele Township Stadium from 9am to 12noon for the restoration of peace to the area.

Inoaghan called on the people of Sapele to turn up for the special prayer as there is nothing God cannot do.
