The incumbent member representing Ethiope Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon Ben Igbakpa on Saturday gave what appears to be a hint on his plans to seek reelection in a different political party come 2023 after losing the ticket to do so under the banner of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Delta State.

Igbakpa on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, lost to Mrs Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, daughter of former governor of Delta State, Chief James Ibori at the rerun primary of the PDP for Ethiope Federal Constituency.

Erhiatake scored 46 votes and Igbakpa polled 22 votes in the rerun primary held at the Oghara Township Stadium, Oghara, headquarters of Ethiope West Local Government Area.

In one of his multiple tweets on Saturday, June 11, 2022, Igbakpa via his Twitter handle @benigbakpa wrote:

“No Retreat; No Surrender

“Ethiope will never bow down to mediocrity and nepotistic imposition.

“We will do all we can to restore the hope of our people in good political and economic governance.”

On the journey so far in the Green Chamber, Igbakpa, a former Commissioner and member of the Delta State House of Assembly wrote, “Today makes it 2 years as a Member of @HouseNGR. It has been a rollercoaster ride in hindsight. In my first 6 months in office, I was confronted with fierce election petitions. However, I didn’t let that preoccupy my commitment to service. Here is all we have done in the period.”
