How will you feel to see a little child of less than 3 years of age suffer kidney problems?
The case of a little boy, Emmanuel Chinonso Ukadike, who is 2 years and four months old, is a pathetic one as he has been diagnosed with a kidney infection at the Asaba Specialist Hospital, ASH, after a series of tests and X-rays.
In a telephone interview with the father of the child, Mr Lawrence Ukadike, he explained that he and his wife noticed few weeks ago that the face of the child was swelling gradually, covering his eyes, and he was finding it difficult to pass out urine leading them to run a medical test on the child.
Mr Ukadike said after a series of tests from different hospitals, they eventually ended up at the Asaba Specialist Hospital, ASH, where it was again confirmed that his little boy Emmanuel, who is the male of a set of twins, had a kidney infection.
He said although the doctor has not recommended any surgery yet, the child has been admitted to the hospital for almost a week to enable them to commence treatment on the child.
“Few weeks ago, myself and my wife noticed that the face of our little boy Emmanuel, who is 2 years and four months old, started swelling, and he was finding it difficult to urinate. We went to carry out test to find out what the problem was, after which he was diagnosed with kidney infection. He has been admitted to the Asaba Specialist Hospital and is currently receiving treatment, which is costing us a lot of money. They have not told us if he will be operated, but treatment is ongoing,” he said.
