The Nigeria Association for Public Opinion Research (NAFORPOR) has written an open letter to the Nigeria Police Force, DSS, SSS and the National leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) calling for the immediate arrest, investigation and suspension of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and his cohorts from the party for visiting the residence of the incumbent Edo North Senator, Francis Alimikhenat, to issue death threat to him.

The group vowed to integrate several civil society groups to protest against the uncivilised utterance and death wish to Alimikhena by Oshiomhole and his team during their late night visit to the Senator in his residence on Thursday.

“Unless Oshiomhole is arrested and made to apologise and withdrew their death wish through various National Papers this issue will end up in Court and Edo North APC will not have peace,” said the group.

It was gathered that one Mr. Fred Omogberai, who was in the entourage of Oshiomhole to the Senator’s residence in Abuja, boldly told the incumbent Senator that he “Senator Francis Alimikhena should be happy that he has not died in office”.

The unguarded utterance was said to have gotten the Senator angry prompting him to raise his voice against them for coming to his house to threaten him with death.

He repeatedly told them, “I am not stepping down! I am not stepping down!!. Let us meet on the field. Did I ask any of you to come to my House? Did I invite you people here? I will walk you all out of my House? I am not stepping down”

The Association says it frowns at the death threat and has sort to know what Oshiomhole and his entourage stand to benefit from the death of a kinsman and an APC member.

The wondered why Oshiomhole will be wanting an elected, loving, generous, hard working and serving Senator dead just for personal political ambition.

They called on the Nigeria Police to take a closer look at the utterances and late night visit of Adams Oshiomhole and his men to the residence of the Senator with such death threat.

According to them, the forthcoming general elections is not about Oshiomhole but, about the survival of APC in Edo North.

The group alleged that Oshiomhole has killed APC in Edo State by forcing Obaseki out of the party and wants to force the only high ranking elected officer of the party in the entire Edo State out of the party.

According to the group, Senator Alimikhena exit from the APC for the sake of Oshiomhole will mark the end of the party in Edo State because he has singlehandedly burne the financial burden of the party in the state in the past years.

The group through the Public Relations Officer of the Organisation, Mrs Comfort Aliu, said the incumbent Edo North Senator who has performed and exceeded public expectations if not fielded to return to the Senate, APC will lose out in the main elections in 2023.

It further accused Oshiomhole of being a polarising figure and a dictator who wants only his will accomplished even when his actions are overbearing on the masses adding that the Senatorial ambition of Oshiomhole has been rejected even by his own kinsmen.

“If indeed Oshiomhole truly believes that the masses are not with Senator Francis Alimikhena, then why did Oshiomhole go to his House to plead with him to step down” Why is Oshiomhole claiming to be a lion outside, when he does not possess same status in his hometown. A man that was once suspended by his people cannot be trusted by the same people in any public office,” they said.
