Former governor of Gombe State, Danjuma Goje will face a five-member committee constituted by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to probe his alleged anti-party activities.

APC Ward Chairman in Kashere, Tanimu Abdullahi, who made this known on Wednesday to newsmen shortly after inaugurating the committee in Kashere town of Akko Local Government Area of the state disclosed that the ruling party is suspecting that Goje, a serving senator representing Gombe Central Senatorial District allegedly connived with the opposition during the just concluded governorship and state assembly elections.

Abdullahi said the committee would investigate the involvement of Goje in anti-party activities, adding that they were aware that Senator Goje directed some of his loyalists to vote for a different party.

He added that the lawmaker allegedly gave out money for vote-buying against the APC, stressing that Goje is suspected of assisting an opposition party in the state during the just concluded governorship election.

“During the just concluded election, it is unfortunate that Danjuma Goje and his supporters engaged in anti-party and we are all witnesses.

“He gave directive to some party members to vote a different party and he went ahead to even give money to that course.

“He is supposed to be an example having benefitted from the party for a long time but he went against our party; this is unfortunate,” Abdullahi said.

He said that the committee was given 14 days to submit its recommendations to the party at the ward level for necessary action.

‘’The committee is expected to uncover all those involved and would apply the provisions of the party constitution based on its findings,’’ he said.

The ward chairman said that the inauguration of the committee was also in the spirit of ensuring due process, fairness and justice in line with the party’s constitution. (NAN)
