The First Bank of Nigeria has said that all its branches will be open on Saturday and Sunday to receive cash to enable customers to deposit their old Naira notes of 200, 500, and 1000.

The notice of the old generation bank in Nigeria is coming on the heels of the pressures and anxiety of customers occasioned by the Tuesday, January 31, 2023, deadline for the use of the old Naira notes.

The bank in a post on its official Twitter account @FirstBankngr on Friday afternoon said, “This is to notify the general public that all our branches will be open on Saturday and Sunday just to receive cash.

All old Naira notes of series 200, 500, and 1000 will cease to be in use from the 31st of January.”

Meanwhile, the scarcity of the new Naira notes of 200, 500 and 1000 on Friday continued with customers of many banks crowded at the Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) of the banks just to see if they can withdraw the news notes.

The premises of most of the banks are also filled with stranded customers wanting to deposit their old Naira notes thereby forcing the security personnel of the affected banks to lockout their gates.

On the other hand, some persons particularly traders have started rejecting the old Naira notes for exchange.
