The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo City, Prof. Adesegun Fatusi has announced the immediate closure of the institution following attack on one of its security staff during the ongoing #EndSARS protest across the city.

It was learnt that earlier on Tuesday morning, protesters barricaded major roads across Ondo city, burning Tyres thereby causing gridlock among road users.

The University management in a memo signed by Ezekiel Adeniran for the institution’s Registrar said: “Following the ongoing nationwide protest, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adesegn Ftusi on behalf of the University Senate, has directed that the University should be closed down with immediate effect.

“The above information is for the strict compliance of all students as they are requested to vacate the University premises immediately for their safety and protection.”

Though the University was silent on the attack on its staff, it was gathered that hoodlums who have hijacked the #EndSARS protest, attacked the security staff manning the Odosida campus of the university.

Leaving Ondo, reports coming in from Akure the state capital also revealed that all major roads in the city centre have been blocked by protesters demanding for an end to police brutality.

This has forced most commuters to trek long distances to reach their destinations.
