Hussey College Warri class of ’93 have donated a public address system, whiteboards and ceiling fans to their alma mater.
The chairman of Hussey College Warri class of ’93, Mr Anthony Akarah, led other members of the group to present the items on Friday, December 1, 2023, at the school assembly ground Warri in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.
Presenting the items to the students the project committee chairman, Mr Joseph Akelie disclosed that the donation of the items was part of activities to mark the 30th anniversary of the class of ’93.
Mr Akelie urged the students to protect the items donated to attract more from the old students of the school.
He commended the five students who were presented with cash donations and urged others to work hard so that they would be among the next batch to be awarded.
He disclosed that items presented to the alma mater include 5 whiteboards,1 public address system and 9 new ceiling fans while 30 old ceiling fans were repaired.
The project chairman listed the names of the awardees to include Isreal Joanna, JSS 2, Ayebhowe Eunice JSS 3, Ewanmiewan Marvellous SS 1, Ndugbu Precious SS 2 and Onojorhoevwo Ajokpoghene SS 3.
The awardees were presented with cash donations for their outstanding performances.
The Secretary of the class of ’93, Comrade Daniel Oji also charged the students to be studious to become better persons in future.
He revealed that the class of ’93 had in the past donated 10 whiteboards, treated borehole water in the school and repaired some of the faulty potable water facilities in the school.
The Principal of Hussey College Warri, Mrs Justina Wateginre, who was represented by the Vice Principal of the school, Mrs Paulina Edigbe, thanked members of the class of ’93 for the gesture and prayed God to bless them for assisting the school by donating fans, public address system and whiteboards.
She also thanked the old students for presenting awards to the best students, stressing that the gesture would encourage others to work hard.
Members of the class of ’93 also visited Obruche Orphanage at Okere Ugborikoko Road Warri to present cash donations to the inmates to support them especially as Nigeria’s economy continues to bite harder.
The operators of the orphanage Bishop Oghenevwede Obruche and Gladys Abiye Sibi thanked members of Hussey College Warri class of ’93 for the cash donation, saying it would go a long way to support the inmates.
They call on good-spirited Nigerians to remember them as the yuletide season gets closer.
