Civil servants in Delta State have been advised to be dynamic at all times in line with the goals and regulations guiding the public service in order for them to be successful in their careers.

The Permanent Secretary in the Delta State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mr Augustine Oghoro gave the admonition in Asaba during a reception party organised by the retiring Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Energy, Engr. Blessing Endewor after a thanksgiving service to mark his 60th birthday and successful retirement from the service of Delta State Government.

Mr Oghoro described Engr. Endewor as an uncommon asset not only to the Delta State public service but humanity in general, adding that he was a very focused and dedicated civil servant who always puts God first.

While appreciating Engr. Edewor for his invaluable contributions to the growth of the State public service, Mr Oghoro stated that the retiring PS was always contented and prayed God to strengthen him with the longevity of life and more blessings.

In their separate remarks, a retired Functioning Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Water Resources, Engr. Emmanuel Odogwu, the Director-General of the State Water Regulatory Commission, Engr. Henry Idama, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Higher Education, Dr Anthony Nwaokolobia and the Director of Planning, Research and  Statistics, State Rural Water Supply Agency (Ruwasa), Mr Asone Ochuko described Engr. Edewor as a humble and innovative individual whose efforts in driving the service to an enviable height were worthy of emulation.

They said that they benefited immensely from the benevolence spirit of Engr. Edewor, stressing that he always carried the interests of staff along in the scheme of things.

Engr. Odogwu and Engr. Idama specifically lauded the retiring PS for his selfless service to humanity and for impacting positively on their lives through the mutual benefits they shared together.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the State Accountants Forum, where Engr. Endewor’s wife is a member, Mr. Charles Isiayei described Engr. Edewor who he said he worked with in the Ministry of Water Resources as a highly meticulous, committed and thorough bred administrator.

Mr Isiayei, who is popularly referred as the Jagaban Delta, used the opportunity to call on accountants in the state to continue to put in their best in service delivery, adding that accountants were saddled with the responsibility of ensuring that prudence and transparency were adhered to in the financial transactions of government institutions.

Responding, Engr. Edewor, who traced his journey in the Delta State public service to 1992 when he was employed and posted to the then-public utilities which later became urban water board and now Delta State Urban Water Corporation said that thanksgiving was a way of appreciating God for His numerous blessings upon his life in the State public service.

Engr. Edewor, who attributed his success in service to God, urged civil servants to carry out their duties with utmost commitment and desist from backbiting their colleagues.
