The member representing Warri South-West in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon Guwor Emomotimi, has expressed optimism of early passage of the Delta State Environmental Conservation Bill presently before the House.

Speaking in an exclusive interview in Asaba on the second anniversary of the seventh Delta State House of Assembly, Hon Guwor, who is the lead sponsor of the bill, said the proposed law is to preserve the future of the environment.

The lawmaker, who is the Chairman House Committee on DESOPADEC, stated that the House is eager to pass the bill, and Deltans are waiting for it, disclosing that the bill is at present at the Committee stage.

Hon Guwor explained that the bill was referred to the House Committee on Environment for further legislative work after its second reading and that the Committee was at the point of calling for a public hearing before the prolonged national industrial action by the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria, PASAN.

He, therefore, expressed the hope that the remaining legislative process on the bill would be concluded as soon as the House reconvenes.

The Warri South-West State representative said the second session of the Seventh Assembly did very well with the passage of nine bills, while five were at various stages of legislative process as well as thirty-four motions.

Hon Guwor regretted the death of Hon Tim Owhefere during the period under review, stressing that the late Majority Leader was a great knowledge and inspiration to members.

He stated that as a member of the Delta State House of Assembly, it has been a wonderful time, saying that the privilege has not only exposed him to the business of lawmaking but provided the rare opportunity to contribute to the growth and development of the state.

Guwor explained that there has not been a dull movement in the House as he was always given the opportunity to canvass the position of the good people of Warri SouthWest on issues brought for discussions on the floor of the House.

The lawmaker said he needs God’s guidance and strength and continued support of the people of Warri South-West Constituency as the House begins the third session of the Seventh Assembly

Hon Guwor assured his constituents of more robust representation in the House.
