Justice Binta Nyako of Federal High Court, Abuja, again on Monday adjourned till October 21, the trial of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
The adjournment followed the failure of the Department of State Services (DSS) to produce Kanu in court for resumption of proceedings.
The lead prosecuting lawyer, Mohammed Abubakar, had told the court that the DSS could not produce Kanu for trial due to logistic reasons.
Justice Nyako who consequently adjourned the trial on the premise that nothing could be done in the absence of the defendant also ordered the DSS to allow Kanu’s lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor access to his client.
The trial judge further said during the ongoing vacation of the court the prosecution can obtain a fiat from the court’s Chief Judge to allow proceedings.
