Delta 2023: Tonukari heads DC-23 guber screening committee

Dear Prof. Nyerhowo Tonukari,

Let me start by congratulating you on your appointment as Chairman of the DC-23 governorship screening committee and for accepting to take up such an onerous task on behalf of the PDP and Urhobo nation in general.

History will always remember you kindly for the sacrificial duty you and your committee members are about to make in the interest of the Urhobo nation and for the continued progress of our Party, the PDP and the Peace of our Dear Delta State.

Let me also use this space to recommend that in addition to the criteria listed upon the inauguration of your committee which includes Medical Fitness, Financial capability, Experience and Acceptability, it is important that your committee critically examines aspirants beliefs & ideologies on the issue of zoning and what their support or contribution has been in furthering the cause and interest of the other senatorial districts.

This criterion in my own opinion is far more important than every other because Delta State is built on a tripod of three senatorial districts (Delta North, Delta Central & Delta South Senatorial districts) and fielding a candidate who by his actions or inactions has shown disdain for the interests of the other senatorial districts or whose statements in time past do not suggest that he or she is a believer of the zoning arrangement of the PDP, may be counterproductive to our quest of producing a governor in 2023; as we need the total support of our brothers from the other two senatorial districts.

I make this brief recommendation on the understanding that the committee is open to recommendations from the general public and in the hope that it will be taken seriously in your work.

Once again, congratulations as I pray the almighty God to grant you the wisdom and cooperation of all your members to deliver on this your mandate.

Thanks,

Prince Joshua Atigogo, PDP stakeholder from Ethiope East Local Government Area
