A major contender for the governorship ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Delta State, Olorogun Fred Majemite, says with the legal battle that arose after the party’s gubernatorial primary in the state in May 2022, now over it is time for the party faithful to close ranks and work for the victory of the party in the 2023 polls.

Majemite, a former member of the Delta State Executive Council in an electronic message titled, “Now That The Storm Is Over!!”, said in the final outcome of the legal tussle there is “No Victor, No vanquish!”, urging the PDP candidate in Delta State, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori to immediately begin to reach out to those who contested against him in the party’s primary to join forces with him to win the general election.

He particularly commended Olorogun David Edevbie, for his display of sportsmanship by congratulating Oborevwori after the Supreme Court verdict noting that “Those of us who also aspired to the coveted office of the Governorship meant well for the State, as we wanted to serve our people at that level; but only one of us was going to be!”.

Majemite wrote below:

Now That The Storm Is Over!!

The gubernatorial primaries have come and gone. The fallout of the primaries, the Court cases have to a larger extent been settled. The challenge we have now is to rally round our Party’s flag bearer, Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori to win the elections. Those of us who also aspired to the coveted office of the Governorship meant well for the State, as we wanted to serve our people at that level; but only one of us was going to be! The intrigues before the primaries played up two major camps, but that’s history now! Any Governor worth a nickel must be interested in who takes over from him, even though we know Power comes from God!

Hon. Sheriff’s victory at the Supreme is a victory for all of us as Party faithful, and I must also at this juncture, thank Olorogun David Edevwie for clearing the airs on Hon. Sheriff’s real person, and his great sportsmanship posture of congratulating him after the Supreme Court judgement, as it goes to show that he bears no personal grudge against Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori! I have to say this because, the war of words from some of our supporters, almost polarized the Party. We should not forget the lessons of Edo State, where anger and anti-Party activities, made us lose the State, then under Prof. Osunbor as Governor.

We should beware of banana peels, close ranks and work for the victory of the Party come next year, more so when the Vice Presidential Candidate of our great Party is our Governor! As for me and my followers, we don’t have a better option than to stand with the Party, No going back! The Storm is over! Hon. Sheriff should now reach out personally to all those who contested with him to join and support him for the raze, as all is fair in war; but it is now time to heal those wounds, No Victor, No vanquish! The umbrella is big enough for everybody, and the Party is Supreme!

THE STORM IS OVER!

Simply–Fred Majemite Esq. Ksji.
