Delta govt rates high project execution by Roadwell Contracting Company as preparations for Oborevwori’s 1yr in office gear up

Delta State Government says priority attention would be given to contractors whose jobs are of high quality and executed according to specifications.

The Special Adviser to the Delta State Governor on Project Monitoring and Audit, Engr. Goodnews Agbi, stated this Thursday while inspecting the reconstruction of Uti Road, off PTI Effurun and Edo Guest House Road, off Refinery Road, Ekpan.

Both jobs in Uvwie Local Government Area of the state are being handled by Engr Milad Christopher-led Roadwell Contracting Company.

Agbi who was accompanied by top officials of the Directorate of Projects Monitoring and Audit including the Executive Assistant (EA) to the Governor on Project Monitoring, Dr Blessing Enamuotor, particularly noted that the two projects being executed by the contracting firm all the drains have perfect alignment, the thickness of the drain walls are 160mm instead of 150mm more than the normal and the reinforcement is very adequate in both in diameter, quantity and quality. He did a very good job.

The Special Adviser also commended Roadwell Contracting Company for working assiduously to complete the reconstruction of Uti Road, Effurun, for it to be among projects to be commissioned as part of activities to mark the one year in office of Governor Oborevwori on May 29.

He noted that when completed Uti road which links PTI road and DSC Expressway would serve as a major alternative route to ease the traffic at the popular PTI junction, where one of the flyovers is being constructed by construction giant, Julius Berger.

At Edo Guest House Road, Ekpan, the Special Adviser further commended the contractor, Roadwell Contracting Company for keying into Governor Oborevwori’s zero tolerance for poor jobs emphasizing that the governor is passionate about delivering quality and sustainable projects for the people of the state.

He used the opportunity of the inspection of Edo Guest House Road, Ekpan to call on the Warri Uvwie and Environs Development Agency, WUEDA to complete the storm water drainage project on the Ekpan Road to enable the contractor link the drainage.

“What the contractor is doing so far on Uti Road engineering wise is quality work. He is putting boulders before putting hardcore and binding course. What he has done so far is to build new drains, the old ones where you have failed portions he is trying to also build those ones. We are impressed with the quality, size and precision of the drains.

“What the MORE Agenda is all about is to give Deltans more value particularly in the delivery of quality projects. The Governor is passionate about doing good roads and good jobs.

“The road was a failed road but what the contractor is doing is to revive it and bring it up to standard we wanted and the quality the people in this community will enjoy as well as feel the impact of the government.

“This is the quality of work the governor wants. Good quality work and he is doing it. The contractor (Roadwell Contracting Company) has said he wants to complete the reconstruction of Uti Road before the one year in office of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori. The community, the people will start enjoying the road very soon, less than a month or thereabouts,” said Agbi.

Responding, Engr Milad Christopher of Roadwell Contracting Company said, “By God’s grace we will deliver Uti Road before May ending. As soon as we complete all the drains which will take maybe 12 to 14 days thereafter we excavate and do the road. We will work today and night to sure we meet the deadline of 29th of May”.

Agbi and his team also inspected the Ozoro Modern Market, Isoko North Local Government Area, which comprise of 600 open and lock-up shops, a storage area and other facilities.

He urged the contractor to correct all errors observed and ensure prompt completion of the project to enable the community enjoy the benefit of the market project as intended by the state government.

The inspection was concluded with a visit to Udu Harbour Market, where Engr Agbi told journalists that the contractor has again like he informed the governor few weeks ago that the job will be completed in one year.

“The corrections we have seen we will pass them on to the contractor especially the expansion joints in some places under the floor of the building,” said Agbi.
