The Delta State Commissioner for Primary Education, Hon Chika Ossai has warned those behind the deroofing and locking of the school gate of St Malachy Primary School in Ugbeyiyi, Sapele, Sapele Local Government Area to desist from it or be prepared to face unpleasant circumstances.

Ossai handed down the warning on Tuesday, when he led a powerful delegation to open the school gate which has been under lock and key for the past one month.

The Commissioner who had in his team the Chairman of SUBEB, Hon Sunny Ogwu, the Chairman of Sapele local government Area and security personnels engaged a pay loader to evacuate the hip of sand that was used to block the entrance of the school gate.

Ossai frowned at the manner an alleged land merchant cum politician deroofed three blocks of ten classrooms at the St Malachy Primary School claiming that he bought government school from a particular family in Ugbeyiyi Sapele.

He said no one person no matter how highly placed in the society has the right to buy government school and lock the puplis and teachers outside the school compound thereby denying them access to education.

The Commissioner asked the security agencies to go after all those involved in the shaddy deal and bring them to book, as government will not entertain any criminal intent that will jeopardise the educational policy of the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s administration.

The team expressed dismay at the action of those behind the sale of the school who also allegedly carried away the pupils chairs and other learning materials as well as the school signpost.

The teachers of the school and people of Ugbeyiyi in Sapele community commended the state government for taking the bold step to open the school gate.

They described the action of the notable politician in the area as man inhumanity to man and urged the state government to ensure that justice prevails on the matter.
