Three spots allegedly used by some youths in Ugborikoko community in Delta State to sell Indian Hemp and other hard drugs have been sealed.
Chairman of Uvwie Local Government, Honourable Ramson Onoyake, who ordered the closure of the three drug spots also ordered that they should be converted to worship centres.
Onoyake while addressing elders and youths of Ugborikoko community advised them to join his administration in the fight against the use of drugs by youths of the local government area.
The Uvwie Council boss who restated his commitment to an enduring peace in Uvwie Council area, expressed displeasure at the behaviour of the arrested youths including ladies led by one Randy IMovie for their involment in hard drugs.
He denounced their behaviour noting that the ugly incident was a bad example to children growing up in the community.
Onoyake further advised that youths involved in drugs but have repented are free to return to Ugborikoko community and contribute to its peace and development.
A community leader in Ugborikoko, Chief Joel Akporehe commended the action of the Uvwie Council chairman saying the community will resist attempts to turn it into a den for drugs and criminality.
Chief Akporehe however appealed to the Council chairman to build skills acquisition centres in the community to discourage idleness and laziness among young men and women who are willing to make a living for themselves and family.
