Delta Commissioner, Pere Gbe, empowers 150 constituents

The Delta State Commissioner for Economic Planning, Dr Barry Pere Gbe, Thursday, distributed various amounts running into millions of naira to about one hundred and fifty persons in Bomadi Local Government Area as part of efforts towards enhancing the quality of lives of the people in the locality.

Dr Gbe at the presentation ceremony held in Bomadi town, headquarters of the council area, restated the commitment of the Okowa’s led administration to embark on policies and programmes that would promote the wellbeing of Deltans.

The Economic Planning Commissioner said the beneficiaries cut across all segments of persons across the local government area, including fifty-five petty traders from the eleven communities that make up the council area that were seriously affected by the recent flooding in the locality.

Others include, PDP Executives at the local government and wards levels, all the Chairmen of the eleven communities, some grassroots mobilizers, the oldest man and woman across the eleven communities, Christain Association of Nigeria, CAN and Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, Bomadi Chapter, and security agencies in the council area.

The General Hospital, Bomadi also felt the positive impacts of the financial support to assist it address some of its immediate needs.

Dr Gbe explained that the recent devastating flooding suffered in the locality called for urgent steps to cushion the effect on the people, stressing that the cash donation is to support the beneficiaries grow their various businesses.

The Commissioner paid glowing tributes to Senator James Manager and other leaders in the area and assured the people of more dividends of democracy as the state government was not reneging in its promises.

Dr Gbe, flanked by some other political office holders from the council area, expressed gratitude to the people of Bomadi for their support to the Okowa’s led administration in the state, and urged them to sustain the support.

The Economic Planning Commissioner stressed the need for more efforts that would promote peaceful coexistence among the eleven communities in the council area, as well as their neighbours, emphasizing that development could only thrive in an atmosphere of peace and security.

Dr Gbe challenged all to be more focused and shun acts inimical to both their individual growth and progress of the society at large.

One of the Coordinators of the Cash Transfer and Business Support Program and Special Assistant to the Deputy Majority Leader of the State House of Assembly, Mr Richard Koki, urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the opportunity provided by the empowerment program.

Mr Koki told the people that the PDP as a political party has done much for Bomadi Local Government Area, and urged the people to continue to partner with the party towards strengthening its stronghold in the council area.

The Chairman, PDP Bomadi local government area, Hon Prince Opuofeni expressed appreciation to the Economic Planning Commissioner, for the empowerment program, as well as commended Senator James Manager and others on their efforts for the development of infrastructure and making life worthwhile in the area.

Hon Opuofeni thanked Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for the opportunity given to Dr Gbe and other appointees in the council area and appealed for more opportunities, assuring him of unalloyed loyalty.

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke also expressed happiness over the various amounts received, saying it will assist them improve their businesses.

They thanked the Economic Planning Commissioner for his kind gesture.
