Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) under the aegis of Delta Unity Mandate have firmly dismissed as false, fictitious and baseless, allegations of parallel ward congresses across Delta State.

The group maintained that, contrary to fake reports circulating on social media, there was no factionalization or rift among the party’s prominent leaders in the state, stressing that the exercise was conducted peacefully and without rancour.

It would be recalled that a group – Delta North APC Coalition for Equity among some persons who claimed to belong to APC had in a press statement alleged that “ block aligned with former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege, former Governor James Ibori and Senator Ned Nwoko, produced parallel ward executives across the state, which followed parallel congresses also conducted on Wednesday linked to camp of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa”

Reacting to the claims, Delta Unity Mandate, in a statement jointly signed by its Coordinator, Chief Anthony Ahanenu; Secretary, Mr Edward Okemuitie; and Publicity Secretary, Mr Lawrence Ehikwe, categorically stated that only one ward congress was conducted on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, across the 270 federal wards in the state. According to the group, the congress was peaceful, orderly and widely accepted by leading APC figures, stakeholders and thousands of party members.

The statement described as “dishonest and diversionary” any attempt to drag respected political leaders into what it termed a non-existent controversy, noting that the congress had fully complied with the stipulated constitutional guidelines and aligned with the resolutions reached at the Delta APC stakeholders’ meeting held on January 23, 2026, in Asaba.

Delta Unity Mandate further characterised the allegations as “blatant falsehoods concocted by a handful of disgruntled and self-serving political jobbers” accusing them of exploiting the names of respected leaders in a futile attempt to sow discord within the party’s ranks in Delta State.

“Those peddling tales of crisis within the Delta APC are faceless mischief makers. Those who cannot even win councilorship election.A tiny minority without electoral value. Some are not even resident in Delta State and scarcely visit or identify with their communities.”

Delta Unity Mandate asserted that the congress was the most credible, peaceful and well-organised exercise ever conducted by the APC in the state.

It emphasised that the consensus arrangement adopted was seamless and devoid of acrimony.

The group noted that the APC Congress Committee, through its Secretary, Hon. Simon Chukwuemeka Atigwe, had commended the conduct of the exercise, as smooth, calm and well-coordinated, producing satisfactory and broadly accepted outcomes across the state.

It also stated that the Delta APC leadership under State Chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie, had informed members of the monitoring committee that the party achieved approximately 95 percent integration and alignment following the defection of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to the APC on April 28, 2025.

The leadership attributed this milestone to what it described as the governor’s visionary and result-driven approach.

Reaffirming its commitment to unity and good governance, Delta Unity Mandate urged APC stakeholders across the state to remain steadfast in their support for the Renewed Hope and M.O.R.E. Agenda of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, as preparations gather momentum toward the 2027 general elections.
