DC-23 focus is on the collective ambition of Urhobo people in Delta Central – Akpowowo

The Delta Central 2023 says the views being expressed by some prominent Urhobo sons on the emergence of the political pressure group does not reflect the aspirations, aims and objectives of the group.

In a statement by the National Publicity Secretary-Elect, Olorogun Arthur Akpowowo, the group said, “…some misconceptions and assumptions by some highly placed individuals of Delta Central Senatorial District extraction..” would not distract it from the diligent pursuit of “…the collective ambition of the Urhobo people in Delta Central”.

The statement reads in part below:

Most of these highly placed individuals are illustrious sons of the Urhobo nation and eminently qualified to contest for any position of their choice. However, they should not work with assumptions but real facts.

There was never a time or meeting where members of the group were forced to sign a constitution as alleged by some of our people.

Being a pressure group, we are not the Party, neither are we taking the place of the Party.

DC-23 is not set up to propagate any individual ambition but the collective ambition of the Urhobo people in Delta Central. This, we intend to achieve through lobbying, engagement and building bridges of friendship within and across the entire State.

We, therefore, urge all and sundry who believes in the Delta Central project to come on board and contribute to the actualization of our people’s desire and aspirations in 2023.
