At 60, Five Years on the Throne: Dafinone Salutes Ovie of Idjerhe’s Impactful Reign

Senator Ede Dafinone, representing Delta Central Senatorial District, has congratulated the Ovie of Idjerhe Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Obukowho Monday Whiskey, JP, PhD, Udurhie I, on the occasion of his 60th birthday and fifth coronation anniversary.

In a goodwill message on Sunday, January 18, 2026, the senator described the dual celebration as a significant milestone that reflects a life of service and a reign distinguished by wisdom, peace, and dignity.

Dafinone noted that the monarch’s ascension to the throne five years ago marked the beginning of a new phase of purposeful traditional leadership in Idjerhe Kingdom.

According to him, the reign of Ovie Udurhie I has been characterised by unity, stability, and a renewed sense of cultural pride among the people, alongside sustained peaceful coexistence within the kingdom.

The lawmaker praised the traditional ruler for combining respect for age-long customs with strong academic credentials, saying this rare blend has elevated the stature of traditional institutions in Delta State and the wider Urhobo nation.

He also commended the Ovie’s commitment to peace-building, youth engagement, and community development, stressing that the palace under his leadership has remained a centre for dialogue, consensus-building, and grassroots progress.
