Senator Ede Dafinone, representing Delta Central Senatorial District, has congratulated Tunji Disu on his appointment as the Acting Inspector-General of Police by Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing the elevation as well-deserved and timely.
In a congratulatory message issued on Wednesday, February 26, 2026, the senator said the appointment reflects Mr. Disu’s professionalism, discipline, and long-standing commitment to service within the Nigerian Police Force.
According to Dafinone, the new Acting IGP’s rise through the ranks has been defined by courage, integrity, and exemplary leadership, qualities he said have earned him the confidence of both the police institution and the Nigerian public.
“The distinguished journey of Mr. Tunji Disu through the ranks, marked by discipline, courage, and exemplary leadership, has positioned him for this critical responsibility,” the senator stated.
Dafinone urged the Acting IGP to deploy his experience toward addressing Nigeria’s persistent security challenges, including kidnapping for ransom, banditry, and recurring conflicts between farmers and herders, which he noted continue to threaten lives, livelihoods, and national stability.
He added that Nigerians are eager to see renewed momentum in policing reforms aimed at restoring public confidence, strengthening internal security operations, and enhancing safety across communities.
“I wish you great success in this new role and assure you of my support as you work to enhance public safety, restore confidence in policing, and advance peace and security across the nation,” the statement concluded.
