There was tension in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State on Sunday as gunmen shot dead two members of the Ovwian Community Vigilante.

Details as to why the vigilantes were killed were still sketchy at the time of this report.

It is not also clear if the gunmen carted away the guns belonging to the vigilantes.

NewsNet gathered that the remains of the deceased vigilantes have been deposited in the morgue in the area by the Police.

The Ovwian/Aladja Divisional Police Officer, CSP Mohammed Mu’Azu declined comments on the matter.

He said, “I have already communicated to the State Command. You know I don’t speak on such issues.”

When contacted, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya confirmed the report in a telephone chat with Our Correspondent in Warri.

The Police Image Maker said, “It’s true” without giving details on the matter.

It would be recalled that a vigilante shot an Ijaw girl dead in the presence of her mother in the same community barely a week to this incident.
