Gunmen have killed an Ondo state monarch, the Oluifon of Ifon, Oba Isreal Adeusi.

Oba Adeusi was killed while returning to his town after attending the Council of Obas meeting in Akure, the state capital.

The Oba was shot by the bandits at Elegbeka, few kilometers from Owo town.

He was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Owo, where he died of gunshot injuries.

Sources at the FMC said the monarch was brought in dead while his remains had been taken to the morgue.
