Kidnappers ‘roar’ in Delta capital city, abduct top female politician, kill policeman

A daredevil kidnapping gang on Tuesday sent shock waves in Asaba, the capital of Delta State as they abducted a former member of the House of Representatives for Aniocha Federal Constituency, Joan Onyemaechi Mrakpor.

NewsNet Nigeria gathered that the kidnappers struck late afternoon on Tuesday while the renowned female politician was having a meeting inside her church, King Jesus & I Church situated off Delta Broadcasting Service DBS Asaba.

The incident which occurred a few distance away from the headquarters of the Delta State Police Command claimed the life of a policeman.

The spokesperson for the Command, SP Bright Edafe, when contacted confirmed the development.

Joan Onyemaechi Mrakpor, before the July 13, 2024, local government elections in Delta State, resigned her position as the State Commissioner for Higher Education, to pave the way for her younger brother to emerge as the People Democratic Party, PDP, chairmanship candidate for Aniocha South Local Government Council.
