Gunmen on Thursday afternoon shot dead a mobile policeman on Airport Road in the twin-cities of Warri and Effurun, Delta State.
NewsNet learnt that the service rifle of the yet-to-be-identified policeman was also carted away by the dare-devil gunmen.
The deceased policeman it was gathered was providing security to a business complex opposite Edjeba junction on the Airport road, where was only recently posted to.
In a phone chat with NewsNet, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, confirmed the killing of the mobile policeman but quickly added that she was yet to details of the incident.
Thursday’s killing comes barely four days after suspected bandits killed two operatives of the Operation Delta Safe (OPS) around Asaba, the state capital.
Another mobile policeman on escort duty was killed at a Church in Otor-Ogor near Ughelli on Sunday and his rifle also made away.
