COVID-19 surges in Nigeria with nine more deaths

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) says there was an upsurge of COVID-19 cases in the country on Friday with nine reported deaths.

Figures released via its official Twitter account showed that a total of 1,624 news cases were recorded in 22 states and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.

The epicentre state, Lagos 535 news cases which represented an increase of 320 recorded Thursday.

With Friday’s figures, Nigeria now has a total of 137,654 confirmed cases of COVID-19, 111,639 recoveries and 1,641 deaths.
