COVID-19: Delta govt reintroduces curfew from 10pm to 4am

COVID-19: Delta govt cancels transfer of teachers

Following the increasing cases of COVID-19 in Delta State, the State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has ordered that curfew be imposed on the state with effect from Thursday, 28th January 2021 from the hours of 10pm to 4 am.

Consequently, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Police Command, Ari Muhammed Ali, in a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, reaffirmed the Command’s determination to strictly enforce the order.

According to the statement, during the curfew, no night club must operate and residents of the state are to remain law-abiding and voluntarily comply with the order.

The statement warned that anyone found wanting would face the full wrath of the law.

CP Ali directed all Area Commanders, DPOs and Heads of Tactical/Operational Departments of the Command to ensure strict enforcement of the orders and further charged all officers to be professional in the discharge of their duties as anything to the contrary would attract severe disciplinary action.

While urging the officers to observe the stipulated COVID–19 personal preventive measures, the State Police helmsman advised residents to be vigilant, focused and adhere to stipulated preventive measures against COVID-19 such as social distancing, wearing of face mask and washing of hands with soap and water and to report anyone found violating the law to the nearest Police Station or by calling the Command’s Control Room Number 08036684974.
