A High Court sitting at Otu-Jeremi headquarters of Ughelli South Local Government Area in Delta State has ruled that Ughievwen Kingdom is one and under one traditional rulership of the Okobaro of Ughievwen Kingdom, Owhawha II.

The court in its verdict on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, dismissed the case brought before it by the Uhurie Kindred-subclan claiming that they are an autonomous and independent subclan and not under the authority of the Okobaro of Ughievwen Kingdom and that they are entitled to create Uhurie kingdom.

The court further held that the purported Uhurie Kingdom and installation of Thomas Karo Okotete as Ovie of Uhurie kingdom amounted to illegality, an offence in law and awarded the cost of Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira in favour of the Okobaro of Ughievwen Kingdom.

Following the court victory, the Ughievwen monarch on Sunday, September 26, 2021, led indigenes of the kingdom to thank God at a thanksgiving service which took place at Godswill Mission Incorporated, Usiefurun in Ughelli South Local Government Area.

Friends of the kingdom and an array of traditional rulers which including the Ebenanaowei of Ogulagha Kingdom, Orovworere of Effurun-Otor Kingdom, Pere of Kabowein Kingdom and Ovie of Oruarivie Abraka Kingdom graced the thanksgiving service.

The Okobaro of Ughievwen Kingdom, Owhawha II in his testimony said that with the verdict of the court, God has kept Ughievwen Kingdom together urging all to come together and work for the progress of the kingdom.

He thanked Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, traditional rulers in the state, religious leaders, traditional chiefs and indigenes of the kingdom for their support and prayers.

Bishop of Godswill Mission Incorporated, Archbishop Solomon Gbakara in his message called on Christians to always remember to give thanks to God for every victory won so as to preserve it.

The clergyman prayed for the Okobaro, members of his family and indigenes of the Kingdom as well as for peace and progress of Ughievwen Kingdom.

Some traditional rulers and some chiefs of Ughievwen Kingdom thanked God for the victory.

They urged all to remain united noting that there is strength in unity.
