An ultra-modern Waiting Shade, popularly called “Bus Stop” newly constructed at Obomkpa community in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State has been commissioned amid cheers by indigenes and residents.

The high capacity Bus terminal was executed by the member representing Ward 3 Obomkpa in the Legislative Arm of Aniocha North Local Government Council, Hon Queen Ukamaka Ndubuokwu as part of her constituency projects in the locality.

Chairman, Delta State Civil Service Commission, and a leading light in Obomkpa community, Dame Patience Nkem Okwuofu, while commissioning the project for public use, commended Hon Ndubukwu for the initiative and foresight.

Dame Okwuofu stated that henceforth commuters waiting to board vehicles in and out Obomkpa would not be doing so under the rains or scorching sun, saying that it was gratifying to have the project executed in the community.

She described the female Councillor as a worthy ambassador of Ward 3, stressing that Hon Ndubuokwu had provided quality representation to constituents as their representative in the legislative arm of Aniocha North local government council.

She said, “I appreciated the commitment of my daughter Queen Ndubuokwu in ensuring that her tenure witnessed remarkable legacy”, stating that through such meaningful contributions to community development, Obomkpa and its environs would continue to experience facelifts as dividends of democracy provided by the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.

Dame Okwuofu prayed for more of God’s enablement on the councillor and the PDP-led administration in the Local Government and the State to achieve more progress.

“I am very optimistic that PDP will win landslide in the forthcoming general elections. I urged everyone to get their PVCs and ensure they vote for PDP. We must all support His Excellency, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa on his aspiration to become the next Vice President of Nigeria.  This project wouldn’t have been possible without his support to all councillors in the state as he provided the logistics for deserved impact at the grassroots.

The donor, Hon Queen Ndubuokwu said the commissioning of the project marked another landmark in Obomkpa, maintaining that the Waiting Shade was to provide comfort for commuters as they wait to board vehicles, most times under the rain or sun as the tide changes.

Disclosing that the project was one of her Constituency projects, the Lawmaker said the Bus stop stands as a visible legacy in ward 3 Aniocha North, even as she assured constituents of her commitment to providing more dividends of democracy.

“Having gotten the mandate of the good people of ward 3 to represent them at the Legislative Chambers of Aniocha North local government Council, it was pertinent to leave good legacies that would stand the test of time. This structure is one of them aimed at ameliorating the pains hitherto suffered by passengers waiting for the arrival of motorists and cyclists in Obomkpa and its environs.

“I am happy the dream came to pass”, Hon Ndubukwu stated. Apart from this structure there were other salient achievements in the area of pupils, students empowerment, women’s programmes and contributions to community welfare. My sincere appreciation to my wonderful madam, the Mother of Government, Agwunwanyi of the universe for her endless assistance”, Ndubuokwu stated.

While appreciating others who were part of the historic event, the legislator called for sustained support and cooperation in the development of the Obomkpa community.

“I can not forget the support of my Royal Fathers, PDP Chieftains and supporters, Colleagues, stakeholders, my brothers and sisters in Obomkpa and others for their support. For being part of the historic event, I pray God to bless you,” she said

Those who spoke commended Hon Queen Ukamaka Ndubuokwu for her impactful representation.

The ceremony was attended by Obi Kanyinaga 1, Obi of Obomkpa, represented by the Council of Chiefs, Chairman, Aniocha North, Hon Kelvin Okwechime, President General Obomkpa Progressive Union, Hon Ogedi Charles, some Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants to the Governor, Home Branch President of OPU, Ward and Chapter Chairmen of the People’s Democratic Party, Women and Youths of the community.
