Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has encouraged Nigerians of goodwill to join forces to build a prosperous nation.
Guwor who is the National Treasurer, Conference of Speakers of States Houses of Assembly in Nigeria, said Nigeria as a country has all it takes to be a great nation.
The Speaker in his New Year message to Nigerians, especially the people of Delta State, stated that even the global community expects more from Nigeria in terms of unity of purpose, religious tolerance, and development.
Guwor in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, CPS, Mr Nkem Nwaeke, expressed optimism that the dream of the founding fathers of the country would be achieved.
While urging citizens to keep hope alive, the Speaker stressed the need for the federal government to address the challenges of insecurity, poverty, and unemployment, which he said have been on the increase for some time now.
He restated the resolve of the Delta State Assembly to maintain a strong synergy with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in advancing the state, stressing that 2024 will witness lots of positive vibes in the state.
Guwor emphasized that the early passage and assent to the State Budget, christened “Budget of Hope and Optimism” for the 2024 fiscal year has set the tone for accelerated socio-economic growth and development in the state.
He said the State Legislature expects the Executive to hit the ground running towards achieving the set goals, stressing that full implementation of the 2024 budget will make huge and remarkable impacts on the MORE agenda of the state government.
The Speaker felicitated the people of the state for the much they could achieve in 2023 despite the challenges and wished everyone a prosperous 2024.
“We survived 2023 despite all the challenges and uncertainties. 2024 shall be great for everyone. The Nigeria of our dreams must be achieved. We must keep hope alive and collectively ensure a conducive atmosphere for good governance to thrive,” Guwor stated.
The Speaker enjoined Deltans never to lose focus in their desires for greater Delta State, stressing that their unflinching support was needed for the state government to succeed in its lofty aspirations for the future of the State.
“The Delta State Legislature has resolved to continue to collaborate with the Executive for growth and development in the state. 2024 will witness stronger synergy in that regards. All that is required is support and cooperation of Deltans,” he emphasized.
