In keeping with the spirit of the season, Azuka and Ify Foundation, Friday gave out cash and food items to orphans, widows and elderly in Igbodo community in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State, South-South, Nigeria.
The event which took place at the palace ground of the Obi of Igbodo, HRM Barr. Ikechukwu Nkeobikwu Osadume, marked another milestone in the Foundation’s efforts towards the welfare and wellbeing of others.
Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Azuka and Ify Foundation, Dr Victor Azuka Ubani, said despite the unfriendly and harsh economic environment in Nigeria, the management of the Foundation cannot afford not to flow with its core mandate of reaching out to the needy in the society.
Dr Ubani, a US-based philanthropist, stated that the Ify and Azuka Foundation is a non-profit, non-political and non-religious organization, established to care for the less privileged in society with focus on developing nations.
He explained that the cash and food items were to provide some little succour to the beneficiaries who were mostly orphans and widows.
Dr Ubani noted that, unlike Christmas period when the Foundation extended its Care Outreach to several parts of Nigeria, including Lagos and Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, it may not be able to go around same places presently as a result of unforeseen challenges.
The Chairman/CEO commended those involved at ensuring the success of the programme in Igbodo community, even as he enjoined the beneficiaries not to play with their health needs.
The wife of the Chairman and co-founder of Azuka-Ify Foundation, Dr (Mrs) Ifeyinwa Joy Ubani, assured that the Foundation will continue to bridge the gap between the different segments of society.
Dr (Mrs) Ubani in her message to the presentation of the food items to the orphans, widows and the elderly, prayed God to bless them with good health to use the little they have to feed.
She wished the people the very best in Easter and urged them to reflect on the essence of the celebration to better their understanding and love for God.
Beneficiaries, community leaders and others who spoke at the event paid glowing tributes to Azuka and Ify Foundation for reaching out to the needy in the society.
They prayed God to bless Dr and Dr (Mrs) Ubani for providing for others, stressing that “a giver never lacks”.
Donated items include bags of Rice, Beans, indomie noodles, beverages amongst others.
