Teachers and students of Ebrumede Secondary Schools, Ebrumede in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State have deserted the school following a suspected spill on a gas pipeline close to the school.
A dependable source told NewsNet Nigeria that the teachers and students of the public secondary school had barely settled down for the day’s academic activities Thursday morning when the smell of the gas spill filtered into the school premises.
The source who craved anonymity said to avert the danger of a fire outbreak with the devastating effects as it relates to gas the teachers and students had to resort to the best option of vacating the school premises.
In a phone chat with NewsNet Nigeria, the chairman of Uvwie Local Government Council, Hon Ramson Onoyake said he has dispatched officials of the council to ascertain the true situation and report back immediately.
