The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) caucus in the House of Representatives on Tuesday disagreed with the resolution of the House leadership to constitute a committee to interface with the Federal Government on the need to suspend the ban on the use of Twitter in Nigeria insisting that they will continue to tweet.

They called on the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami to arrest them and not their client or constituents.

The House of Representatives resolved to investigate the decision of the Federal Government to ban the operations of Twitter a social media platform in the country at its Tuesday plenary.

The Speaker, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila while reading the decision of the House said the platform has been a portent means of communication and commerce in Nigeria.

The House further resolved to invite the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed to brief the House on this decision. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, Speaker, House of Representatives.

The speaker mandated committees on Communication, Justice and Legal Matters, Information to investigate the decision within ten days for further legislative actions.

The caucus staged a walkout in protest of the House leadership’s refusal to allow the suggestion to unban Twitter pending the outcome of the interface with the federal government.
